We love food! When we travel, we almost always pick the places we want to eat before we pick out the experiences we want to have. If only our caloric and monetary budgets would let us dine out all the time in this #airstreamlife!
Each one of our favorite dining experiences was recommended to us by a Denver local and boy did they deliver! Denver is clearly a great town for foodies. Here are the places we dined and loved during our 10 days in Denver.
Best Brunch
Snooze An A.M. Eatery, multiple locations, Daily 6:30 AM- 2:00 PM
Snooze was recommended to us by multiple Denver locals, and boy was this fantastic. There are multiple locations around Denver, and if you arrive after 9:00, be prepared to wait for your table But we promise the wait will be worth it! The decor inside the restaurant makes you feel like you've stepped into an episode of The Jetsons, and the food was flavorful, creative, and so delicious.
Our recommendation: Go with the Benny Duo so you can try two different types of their delicious bennys. Green chile and smoked white cheddar hollandaise sauce? Yes please!
Favorite Fusion Cuisine
Street Feud, 5410 E Colfax Ave, Wed-Sun 11:20 AM- 9:00 PM
We enjoyed Street Feud so much we went back a second time! The eclectic decor in this Gen X paradise will make you feel like you've stepped back in time to the 1980s in the best possible way. The dishes here are a mix of Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisines served as tacos, bao buns, bowls, wraps, and loaded fries. You can mix and match buns and tacos, which is great when you want to try everything on the menu!
Our recommendation: Try the K-Pop Fries; perfectly cooked fries that are loaded with crispy pork belly, kimchi, sour cream, and green onions. In our wildest dreams we never could have imagined how delicious this combination of flavors could be!
OMG Omakase
Uchi Denver, 2500 Lawrence Street, Daily 4:00-10:00 PM
Is there anything more perfect than a Chef's tasting menu? Not if you ask Team Tiegs! This James Beard award winning chef's menu was extensive and incredibly hard to narrow down to only a handful of dishes to try. In the end, we decided to share 7 dishes and 2 desserts among three people. If you love sushi and Japanese food, this is a Denver dining destination not to miss.
Our recommendation: Hirame Usuzukuri, the mostly perfectly prepared flounder crudo flavored with citrus and topped wtih crunchy quinoa. Also, don't sleep on dessert. The Fried Milk is a creative take on fried ice cream and melt in your mouth delicious.
Perfect Pastries
A Taste of Denmark, 1901 S Kipling Street, Lakewood, CO, Wed-Sun 7:00 AM- 6:00 PM
The morning after a late night at Red Rocks Amphitheater, nothing sounded better than flaky, buttery goodness. We were overwhelmed by all the options as we stared at the two cases of golden pastries. They also have loaves of fresh baked bread you can take home, but if you're on vacation, let's be honest, you're there to splurge on sugary goodness.
Our recommendation: This place does almond right! Both the almond croissant and the bear claw were the perfect sweetness of almond flavor and the exact flaky texture you want in a European pastry.
Indecisive Dinner and a Show
Denver Milk Market, 1800 Wazee Street, Mon-Thur 7:00 AM-10:00 PM Fri-Sat till midnight
Traveling with a group of people who all have different tastes in food? Feeling especially indecisive about what's for dinner? Denver Milk Market is your solution! This huge open space in Denver's historic Dairy Block houses 16 different restaurants: from pasta, to tacos, to BBQ, to seafood, there is something for everyone here. Monday nights from 7:00-9:00 are Musical Mondays, a Broadway music sing-a-long and Sunday Brunch is Drag Bingo Brunch starting at 11:00! Get there early to secure your seat!
Our recommendation: Green Chile Mac & Cheese from Ruth's Butchery, creamy and a little bit spicy!
Inclusive Eats
Brew-a-bility, 3445 S Broadway, Englewood, CO Tues-Sun hours vary
As a special educator for almost 15 years, inclusion is one of my core values. I was so excited to find this brewery and pizzeria in Englewood that employs adults with developmental disabilities! The pizza and beer were great and we very much enjoyed the live music on the patio. The staff were amazing; we were so impressed. If you are in the Denver area, please go support this amazing restaurant. Adults with developmental disabilities often struggle to find meaningful employment, so having places like this to give them opportunities is so important!
Our recommendation: Jalapeno Poppers or the Jalapeno Popper Pizza, don't question it, just go with the perfect combination of sweet, salty and spicy!
Ultimate Ice Cream
Little Man, Multiple Locations, Hours Vary
Did you know Denver is famous for their ice cream? Neither did we before we got here! We counted more than 15 local ice cream shops and narrowing them down to try was a challenge, but picking the winner was easy! Little Man Ice Cream has been scooping Denver's best ice cream since 2008. Each flavor we tried was amazing!
Our recommendation: Get a scoop of their famous Salted Oreo flavor and we promise you will not be disappointed!
Did we leave off your favorite Denver dining destination? Let us know what we should try the next time we're in Denver!
