Denver and the surrounding area is the perfect setting for both urban adventurists and outdoor enthusiasts alike. We are far from Denver experts, but we had the best time exploring this area. Here are our recommendations for the best couple adventures you can experience in the Denver area. And be sure to check out our dining guide to Denver too!

Outdoor Adventures

It’s no surprise to anyone that knows us well, that the reason for our trip to the Denver area was to attend two Brand Carlile concerts at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. Attending a concert at Red Rocks has been on our bucket list, and we were blown away by the beauty of the venue. Even if you aren’t attending a concert, you should make the trip out to see the venue. The park is free and open to the public every day from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Except on concert days when the park closes around 2:00 to those who aren’t attending the show. Walk your pup in the venue, hike one of the trails, and go inside to check out the visitor’s center. No matter what time of year you visit, you should be prepared to experience all four seasons in one day. Pack accordingly!

We have a goal to hit every national park in the lower 48 states while we’re traveling around the country, so we had to make sure to hit ROMO! You must buy a timed entry ticket for a two-hour window in order to enter the park. Even if you are in good cardiac shape when you visit, the elevation in this park is no joke so make sure you stay hydrated and bring layers as the temperature is much colder the higher you climb. Drive the epic and beautiful Trail Ridge Road, which climbs to over 12,000 ft in elevation and pick a “stroll” from the park guide. Just remember to take it easy as you're strolling, the beautiful views will be there no matter how slow your pace is.

Gorgeous views at Rocky Mountain National Park

Mt. Evans is the 14th highest 14er in Colorado, rising to 14,264 ft. That’s almost as high as the summit of Mt. Rainier! During the summer months, you can drive to the summit of Mt. Evans on the highest altitude road in all of North America. Along the way, plan to stop at Mt. Goliath Nature Center and Summit Lake to enjoy the scenic beauty of this alpine wilderness. You must buy a timed entry ticket in order to drive the Mt. Evans Scenic Highway.

Urban Fun

The Dairy Block is located in Downtown Denver near Coors Field. It is a micro-district filled with shopping, dining, drinking, and galleries. Check out their calendar of events to see what is happening. We enjoyed Music Mondays, a drag broadway sing-along at Denver Milk Market. You can also catch trivia night, a live DJ house party, and drag bingo brunch! Definitely put this destination on your list of Denver experiences!

Explore this hip, artsy area of Denver by foot you will find an abundance of art to enjoy. There are more than 20 galleries and 80 murals in a one-mile radius. You can take a break from your art viewing by enjoying a drink at one of the multitude of breweries, distilleries, wineries, or cideries in the region.

Meow Wolf Convergence Station is one of three Meow Wolf experiences, the other two are in Santa Fe and Las Vegas. It is an immersive, psychedelic experience that encompasses 4 stories and more than 70 unique art installations. You can either purchase a QPASS that will make your visit an interactive quest, or explore the space with no agenda at all. Either way, plan to spend at least 2 hours in Convergence Station. We loved every minutes of our time in this unique art installation.

Yes, Elevationists are a religious order who believe that consumption of cannabis is a sacrament. Recreational marijuana consumption is legal in the state of Colorado (and in our home state of Washington.) No, you do not have to be a member of their church or even be pro-marijuana to enjoy the Beyond Guided Meditation and Laser Light Experience at the International Church of Cannabis. No marijuana is allowed to be consumed on premises when the church is open to the public for the Beyond Experience. Head into the church around the top of the hour to enjoy the entire space prior to heading into the sanctuary for the laser light show. This was our most surprisingly fun experience in our time in Denver and we highly recommend it for all!

You might recognize the name Molly Brown from the movie Titanic or maybe from the musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Margaret "Molly" Brown survived the Titanic disaster and went on to become a world traveler, and suffragist. We greatly enjoyed learning about this fierce feminist icon. Next time we're in town, we will absolutely be taking a Historic Denver Walking Tour. We think there's no better way to learn about the history of a place by learning from a local expert!
